There is no better way than to celebrate your marriage than by making a donation to Just a Drop's projects and ensuring that communities across the world no longer need to walk for water.

Contact [email protected] to find out how you can support a specific project with your kind donations. You'll know exactly what and where you are funding and the impact that clean water and sanitation is having on that specific community.

By asking your guests to donate to Just a Drop instead of giving a wedding gift, you could give families living in some of the world’s toughest places a reason to celebrate.

You also might want to think about:

  • Speeches: Thank everyone who has helped raise money and tell them the total you’ve raised so far. Remind everyone else of your target and let them know it’s not too late to make a donation.
  • Wedding favours: Instead of traditional wedding favours, why not make a donation to Just a Drop on behalf of each of your guests? Let us know what you'd like to include as your favours by contacting [email protected] and we can support you with designs and ideas.
  • Sell any spares: If you get any duplicate gifts, you could consider selling them online and donating any money you make.

Zaida's Story

"My sandals would break sometimes carrying that bucket of water, I would go out in the rain looking for water, it was sad." This was the reality for Zaida and her community in El Hatillo, Terrabona, in Nicaragua.

For eighteen years, Zaida has walked each day to a public well more than 30 minutes away from her home.

The water she collected was dirty and unprotected, and quite often, water from the nearby river got into the well so had to be emptied and cleaned. Whilst this happened the community would have to walk to a stream, and drink water meant to be used for irregation, making them ill and meaning that they had to spend the little income they received on doctor’s bills.

However, thankfully this is no longer the situation in El Hatillo. Just a Drop installed a piped water system in her village, supplying 54 families and one school with safe water from a drilled well.

The community does not have to lose valuable time walking to fetch water anymore, or spend what little money they have for treatment of a water related illness. Each family now has a tap supplying safe water at home.

“Now we no longer go to fetch a bucket of water, it is in the yard of each of our homes. With this we will have less sandals break”, Zaida explains with a satisfied smile.

She told us that the community now “drinks with more confidence."

It’s thanks to donations like yours that we can support Zaida and her communities, and many more just like her. Your celebrations can change the work, and really have an impact.
