Vertical Travel Group Conference Appeal Donate Fundraise Just a Drop is over the moon to be attending the Vertical Travel Group Conference in Paphos! We are so delighted to be able to spend time with you all hearing about your businesses and celebrating travel across the Vertical Travel Group! For context, Just a Drop is an international water charity that brings safe water, sanitation and hygiene projects to communities; transforming lives. We were set up in 1998 through World Travel Market as a way to encourage travel and tourism businesses to give back to the communities they operated in across the world. Since then, we’ve been able to reach over 1.9 million people in rural communities in Asia, Africa and Latin America with projects that are sustainable, locally run and owned by the communities. With your help, the Vertical Travel Group Conference will support Just a Drop to support a community and school in Kenya with year-round safe water. Wambiti Primary School Wambiti Primary School is a mixed day school in Wambiti village, Makueni County - an arid, rural area of Kenya that suffers greatly due to climate change and has limited access to water. At the moment the school buys in water in big tanks each week to support the students at the school but this water is collected from local rivers. This means: Children at the school are frequently ill due to the quality of the water The school cannot afford to spend money on books or improving the standards at the school Water is limited to drinking and eating Girls often drop out of the school as they are unable to manage on their periods without water The school is made up of: 104 girls,125 boys, 10 teaching staff. A total of 239 will be supported through the project. With your support this will change and Just a Drop will: Construct one 104m3 water storage tank in the school. Install a guttering system to drain rain water from classroom roofs during the rainy season Paint of the tank walls and inscribing hygiene promotion messages especially on hand washing. Conduct hygiene training with the students and teachers Your support will truly transform lives and make a real impact to the lives of children in Kenya.
