Just a Drop and Kingspan Water & Energy Ltd have worked together to develop an impactful programme that reaching thousands of people across the world with vital water and sanitation.
The partnership comes as part of Kingspan Water & Energy Ltd’s 2021 Planet Passionate Communities Programme, the philanthropic arm of the company’s ambitious 10-year sustainability programme, Planet Passionate. Through this initiative, Kingspan Water & Energy Ltd is supporting people and communities around the world while promoting sustainable practices using responsibly sourced materials.
Each year, the programme takes a new focus, where a project is undertaken under a Planet Passionate theme.
So far, Kingspan Water & Energy Ltd have taken on the following themes:
Planet Passionate Year of Education
Nthongoni Secondary School, Makueni County, Kenya
Kingspan supported the building of a rainwater harvesting tank at the school, enabling 313 children to access safe water. By having water at school, girls in particular no longer need to walk to collect water and can therefore attend school and receive an education.
Planet Passionate Year of Enterprise
Menstrual Hygiene Programme: Kathambu Self Help Group
In the year of enterprise, Kingspan supported 259 people in Kenya to be able to set up their own businesses sewing menstrual pads which will be distributed across schools and the community.
Planet Passionate Year of Innovation
Nthaatwa Primary School, Makueni County, Kenya
In the year of innovation, alongside funding a school tank supporting 199 children with access to safe water, we were able to invest into a programme of tank sensors which helps us to increase tank effectiveness and productivity.
To add to this, a team of 9 employees from Kingspan Water and Energy Ltd visited Kenya in 2024 and came together to fundraise for a rainwater harvesting tank at Malatani school, enabling 205 children to access safe water and remain in school.
