Our Eco-Housekeeping initiative inspires and incentivises your guests to turn green thinking into positive social action, transforming lives all around the world. It’s easy to set up and Just a Drop will provide you with all of the materials you need to get started.
This initiative is flexible, and we welcome your suggestions on how you’d like to shape the programme and support Just a Drop.
How Does the Programme Work?
Capturing the Guest's Attention
When guests arrive for their stay they are greeted by the receptionists who invite them to join the Eco-Housekeeping programme. Joining the programme enables guests to opt out of room housekeeping services when they stay for at least two nights at the property.
Incentivising Sustainability
To encourage their participation, the guest is offered incentives such as a free bottle of wine or discounts at the hotel restaurant. Additionally, for each night that the guest chooses to opt-out of housekeeping, a donation is made to Just a Drop.
Increase Your Profits, Brand Loyalty, and ESG Credentials
By servicing less rooms and using less water and detergent, you will reduce your outputs and running costs. At the same time, part of these savings are invested into sustainable projects that tangibly transform lives.
Measure Your Impact and Report On It
Just a Drop will use the donations that you make to fund specific water projects across the world. For these projects, we’ll provide updates, photographs and reports which you can share with your guests to demonstrate the impact that they’ve had.
The Programme in Action
Our relationship with PPHE Hotel Group runs through their Green Housekeeping initiative, where guests who stay for more than two nights are invited to forgo room service.
If guests accept, they receive the choice of a bottle of wine, hotel loyalty points, or money off the hotel restaurant. Importantly, every time a guest does decide to partake, a £1 donation is made to support Just a Drop.
In its first year, this initiative enabled us to support 42,027 people across the world with access to safe water, transforming their lives.
Participating PPHE hotels are able to operate more sustainably, saving water and energy on cleaning and also save money, as the cost of the £1 donation and incentives are actually less than the cost of servicing the guests’ room, whilst brand loyalty increases.

Investing in the Important Things
We are transparent in our operations, with 81% of our income directly funding projects last year. We provide partners with regular reports, images, and videos, and monitor projects for at least seven years post-completion to ensure sustainability.
