Alice Murphy, Partnerships and Events Consultant
Alice oversees Just a Drop’s corporate partnerships particularly those in the travel and hospitality industries and also manages Just a Drop’s events, including our Travel United Cup, Golf Day, activity at WTM London, and all of our challenge events. Alice holds a degree in Journalism from the University of Sheffield, and has worked across several events and corporate portfolios at organisations such as Media Trust, Free the Children and ActionAid. In her spare time Alice likes to hone her photography skills, travel to new countries, and play netball with her local team. Having travelled to Uganda, Zambia and Kenya with Just a Drop, Alice loves being able to see the effect of her work first hand and demonstrate the impact that the organisation is having to her partners, she loves that each project is tailored to the community’s needs.

Amy Sendell, Programmes Manager
Amy runs our Project Programme with Melissa, Eve and Bella, coordinating and managing projects from initial proposal to completion, and undertaking field visits to our projects. She’s been with us for eleven years. Amy previously volunteered for the British Red Cross’ youth and school programmes, and holds a degree in International Education from Bath University. As part of her studies, she visited schools in remote areas of Zambia, and saw how important access to water was in enabling children to go to school. This experience led her to working for Just a Drop. Amy lives in Dorset and is an adrenaline junkie, spending her free time mountain biking, snowboarding, sailing, and kite surfing. Amy’s highlight of working at Just a Drop is visiting our projects twice a year, and seeing the impact clean water has on communities. Meeting the people we work with and hearing their inspirational stories motivates her to continue to do more.

Bella Mytton-Mills, Programmes Manager
Bella coordinates our busy Programmes team and manages our work in Nicaragua and Kenya. She studied Politics and Philosophy at Cardiff University, completing a dissertation on the human right to water before working on a water and sanitation project in Tanzania with Raleigh International, shortly after graduating in 2014. Bella has held a passion for travelling since she was small, and partly grew up in Singapore, where she developed her talent for South-East Asian cookery. On weekends you’ll find her out with her camera, and walking her dog in the Dorset countryside. Bella loves being able to see the complete circle of Just a Drop’s projects, from when they come in, to approval and finding funding, to construction and finally to seeing the completed result and the impact on the community.

Brendan Hanlon, Head of Fundraising and Communication
Brendan brings a wealth of experience from his career working in organisations large and small, including running HIV/AIDS charity AVERT, and founding two Community Interest Companies. A key part of Brendan’s role at Just a Drop is developing our partnerships. Originally from Merseyside, Brendan now lives by the sea in Brighton with his family, where he enjoys cooking Italian food – inspired by his Italian wife – and spending time with his three children, who keep him busy. Although he still finds time to run at least one marathon a year and get to the football now and then. Brendan’s highlight of working for Just a Drop was visiting our Nicaraguan projects with our US Ambassador, and seeing first-hand the impact that Just a Drop makes to people’s lives.

Elizabeth Cushman, Finance Officer
Elizabeth handles our finances and is a chartered management accountant. Prior to working for Just a Drop, Elizabeth worked at Reed Exhibitions for 14 years. Elizabeth is a school governor and enjoys singing in her local community choir.

Eve Oatley, Programmes Manager
Eve runs our Project Programmes with Melissa, Amy and Bella, coordinating and managing projects in Cambodia and Zambia. Prior to Just a Drop, Eve worked on development, health, water, sanitation and hygiene, and environment programmes in Africa, Asia and the Pacific. She has a degree in Zoology and an MSc in Environmental Technology. Eve likes working for Just a Drop because of the diverse range of international WASH programmes, which are vital to supporting communities to improve their lives. Eve enjoys travel, nature, walking her dogs, and getting creative in her workshop.
Hugo McCullagh, Communications Manager
Hugo oversees our communications output, including our reports, website articles, and social media coverage. Hugo holds a degree in History from UCL and a master’s in International Studies from SOAS, he speaks fluent Swedish and a passable level of French. Hugo enjoys playing and watching tennis and football, particularly Portsmouth and the Swedish national team, distance running, and reading. Hugo’s favourite thing about working at Just a Drop is being able to make a tangible difference to people’s lives by contributing to achieving their human right to safe water and sanitation.

Jonathan Garrard, Head of Programmes
Jonathan has worked in senior management of development programmes both in the UK and East Africa for many years. He maintains a very close personal connection with Ethiopia and has travelled in and supported programmes all over Africa. Outside work he became a bit of an obsessive allotmenteer during COVID and will talk with passion and at length about the finer points of composting. He celebrates 50 years as an Arsenal fan this year!

Kate Davies, Executive Assistant
Kate is Just a Drop’s Executive Assistant, covering all aspect of administration and governance for the organisation. She has a degree in Modern Languages and administrative experience across diverse industries, including finance, consulting, media, and lifestyle. After travelling extensively, Kate worked as an overland tour guide in Southern and East Africa and feels a special connection to our projects in these regions having seen first-hand the benefits that clean water and sanitation can bring to communities. In her spare time Kate enjoys travel, theatre, walking and spending time with her family.
Tess Bettison, Development Manager
Tess is our Development Manager. She supports the Fundraising and Communications team, researching and coordinating new and existing fundraising initiatives to deliver our projects. Tess studied International Relations at the University of Birmingham and has joined the Just a Drop team upon her return from living in Australia. Tess is excited and proud to contribute to the valuable work at Just a Drop and is passionate about delivering sustainable, grassroots projects that change lives around the world. In her spare time Tess enjoys theatre and music events, as well as playing dodgeball for London Storm.
Meet Our Project Officers
Our experienced Engineers, Hydrogeologists, and Project Officers volunteer their time and skills for Just a Drop…
Our Project Officers all have significant professional experience on water development projects worldwide as well as in gender, ground water, and civil engineering. We’re hugely grateful that they all give their time to Just a Drop voluntarily, and do not take a salary.
Geoff Pook, Project Officer, Cambodia & India
Geoff is a chartered civil engineer with extensive professional experience on water and sanitation projects in the UK, the Caribbean, Egypt, India, and Hong Kong. Geoff monitors our projects in India and Cambodia, and says that Just a Drop gives him the opportunity to use his skills to help others and get to know people in a way only working in a country can.
Jamie Riches, Project Officer, Kenya
Jamie has 25 years’ experience working on water supply projects in Africa and the Middle East, and holds a degree in Geology with Geophysics, and a Masters in Hydrogeology. He specialises in groundwater development, and has extensive knowledge of well drilling. Jamie works in the Groundwater Resources team at Thames Water full time, and volunteers his time for Just a Drop, as our Country Manager for Kenya. Jamie is a qualified football coach and manages his son’s team, and takes part in games of ‘Dads’ football himself. he also enjoys planning trips into the wilderness to challenge his understanding of the rocks beneath his feet. Jamie enjoys working for Just a Drop in Kenya as he gets to see the positive impact of projects almost immediately, and he says that the determination, warmth and incredible happiness of the people he meets is truly inspiring.
Lawrence Brown, Project Officer, Uganda
Lawrence works as a Principal Hydrogeologist with Hafren Water, an environmental water management consultancy based in Shrewsbury, UK. Lawrence has experience working across the African continent – including a two year groundwater mapping project in Uganda – in Malawi, South Africa, Botswana, Nigeria, Ghana, Burkina Faso and Libya, initially as a geologist and latterly as a hydrogeologist. Lawrence enjoys working for Just a Drop as he is keen to share and pass his knowledge on where he can, and finds using his skills to support people with something we take for granted very satisfying. Lawrence is a keen wildlife photographer.
Nancy Stone, Project Officer
Nancy is an experienced hydrogeologist specialising in water resources assessment. She works as a Principal Hydrogeologist within the groundwater team at Wood, and holds a degree in Geology, a Masters in Hydrogeology and is a Chartered Geologist. Nancy has spent most of her career to date in UK environmental consultancy but also has a strong interest in rural water supply and water resources management in developing countries, with particular experience in East Africa. Nancy offers hydrogeological support to all Just a Drop programmes as needed, with a particular emphasis on water quality. She loves using her knowledge and experience to directly impact the lives of communities and believes we all can make a difference to things we care about. As part of a previous project with WaterAid Nancy lived and worked in southern Ethiopia during a major drought, which really made her understand what it means not to have clean water or a toilet. She has witnessed first-hand the impact Just a Drop has on people’s lives and says ‘it’s all credit to a great bunch of very hard working folks’. Nancy lives in Berkshire, is married to a surfing and snowboarding addict, and spends her spare time running around after two adventurous small girls and tripping over her family’s two lazy cats. Nancy loves music and is a classically trained oboist, having played in orchestras, chamber groups… and on tour with Elton John!
Peter Marsh, Project Officer, Zambia
Peter gained experience of project work in Africa during his 34 years’ service in the Royal Engineers; and latterly worked for a specialist engineering company as a Chartered Environmentalist on the review, implementation and management of construction projects. Peter is a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, and finds his work with Just a Drop very rewarding. He was attracted to volunteer his time for Just a Drop to be able to help improve the lives of families in rural Zambia who endure sickness and hardship through lack of clean water. Peter says that seeing communities’ joy at their new boreholes and hand pumps is a wonderful experience which although he is fortunate to witness, a whole team of people and sponsors make happen. His work continues to give him great satisfaction.
Samantha Diouf, Project Officer, Cambodia
Samantha has twenty years’ experience, having worked with WaterAid and consulting on water projects across Africa and Cambodia. After six years of living in Rwanda, Samantha has been based in Cambodia since 2021 and enjoys being able to easily visit our partner, Water for Cambodia, in Siem Reap to spend time with the team and visit projects. Sam is a mother of three children, and in her spare time is a trainee doula, she enjoys running, dancing, reading, and travelling, especially to visit family in Senegal and the UK, as well as having adventures elsewhere.
Tim Kingham, Project Officer, Nicaragua
Tim is a chartered civil engineer with over 40 years’ experience in the global water and environmental sectors. His experience spans DfID and the Halcrow Group, where he was responsible for technical and water sector business performance assignments. Tim enjoys using the professional experience and skills gained during his professional working life for the benefit of Just a Drop, and enjoys the challenges and opportunities of working in countries that both he and Just a Drop haven’t worked in before. Currently, Tim monitors our projects in Nicaragua, and as a retired engineer, works for us voluntarily. Tim has had an eventful and exciting career, having worked on many projects abroad early on, including with VSO; who sent him to Nigeria, only for Tim to be evacuated after a year when he was taken hostage along with other volunteers by the Biafran army. Tim continued his second year in Montserrat, in the West Indies, where he met other volunteers including his future wife, before Montserrat subsequently almost disappeared as the result of a volcanic eruption, and most of the island became, and still is, uninhabitable.
