The Partnership
The Explore Foundation was set up by adventure travel company Explore Worldwide, with the aim of supporting projects and initiatives in the countries they visit. The foundation’s mission is to positively impact the lives of communities worldwide. They support grassroots projects that target poverty, increase access to education and healthcare, and promote conservation.
The Explore Foundation has partnered with Just a Drop to support three projects.
Caña de Castilla, Nicaragua
In the village of Caña de Castilla in Nicaragua, the Explore Foundation supported a project to deliver a safe, local water source to the community. We worked with our Country Partner, El Porvenir, and the local community to construct a water storage tank, a pump house, and a pipe system. This was then connected to taps, which were built outside each house in the community, as well as at the local school and church.
As part of the project, we also established a Potable Water and Sanitation Committee (CAPS), who were trained in project maintenance and encouraging good hygiene practices across the community.
Thanks to the support of the Explore Foundation, the villagers of Caña de Castilla no longer need to spend hours a day fetching water, and there will be an improvement in health and wellbeing across the community, as illnesses caused by drinking dirty water will decrease.

Emergency relief for Internally Displaced People in Cambodia
Thanks to the support of the Explore Foundation, Just a Drop and its Country Partner, Water for Cambodia, delivered a rapid-response intervention to establih immediate access to safe drinking water for over 10,000 people who had been displaced by the Cambodia–Thailand border conflict.
To reduce contamination risks at the household level, the project also provided 20-litre safe water storage containers to every displaced family at the site, enabling families to collect, transport, and store drinking water safely, which will help reduce the spread of waterborne disease in overcrowded camp conditions.
Alongside this, the project also delivered rapid hygiene education sessions, covering safe water handling, handwashing, and sanitation behaviours, as well as distributing essential hygiene and dignity items, such as soap and sanitary pads.

El Chocoya, Nicaragua
The Explore Foundation is partnering with Just a Drop to provide a reliable source of clean water for the villagers of El Chocoya in Nicaragua.
Working with the local community and El Porvenir, Just a Drop will install a borehole well and a full water distribution system, which will replace unsafe natural springs and ensure that safe water reaches households across the community. This will significantly reduce the time and physical burden of water collection, particularly for women and girls.
