Volunteer Engineer support for India projects, Just a Drop

Just a Drop is an international development charity working to bring safe water, hygiene and sanitation to communities without, transforming lives. Our clean water projects have benefitted over 1.5 million people across 32 countries since we began in 1998.

We work at a grassroots level with communities and our local partners to implement water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) solutions which best suit a community's specific needs, and take into account local water availability, geography, infrastructure, economic conditions and culture.

We currently work in six countries across the world. All of our Project Engineers who support each country, volunteer their expertise and time.

We are looking for a water engineer to volunteer their time to support our work in India.

Job Description

- Evaluate project proposals to ensure the projects meets Just a Drop’s funding criteria

- Determine project specifications ensuring that they meet Just a Drop’s performance standards and approve cost estimates

- Establish and strengthen the relationship with Local Partners

- Assist with a country specific strategic plan

- Oversee all projects from inception to completion – via desktop and with site visits as required

- Attend meetings with the wider Project Management Team

Person Specification

- Trained water engineer with multiple years of experience

- Prior experience in international development would be beneficial, especially experience of working in India

- Ability to travel to India for approximately 3 weeks a year, spread over 2 trips

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
