Just a Drop Trustee

Closing date: 1st July 2020

We are seeking to recruit Trustees to help us continue our work transforming lives by bringing safe water and sanitation to people across the world.

Just a Drop is an international water, sanitation and hygiene charity established in 1998 and since then we’ve reached over 1.5 million people and worked in over 30 countries. We have an excellent reputation for delivering project work of the highest quality and bringing our supporters closer to the projects they support.

This is a good time in Just a Drop’s development; in the last few years we have seen a real growth in the programmes we are able to deliver and the number of people we can benefit. Our programmes team are supported by a team of highly qualified civil engineers and hydrogeologists who volunteer their time and expertise.

A key aspect of this development is to strengthen our capacity at board level and we are therefore looking for trustees who can help us achieve this. Specifically, we need people with a background in international development to help provide the following:

• Strategic advice
• Support and guidance to our experienced projects team
• To be the lead trustee in terms of international development

In order to provide this, a candidate would ideally have:

• A wide knowledge of water and sanitation issues
• Experience of collaboration with development partners
• Project management experience

In line with the Charity Commission Guidance for Trustees, our Trustees are expected to carry out the following duties honestly and reasonably:

• Ensure the charity is carrying out its purposes for the public benefit
• Comply with our governing document and law
• Act in the charity’s best interests
• Manage the charity’s resources responsibly
• Act with reasonable care and skill
• Ensure the charity is accountable

Trustees meet typically four times a year at our offices in Richmond, London. The projects team are based in Motcombe, Dorset.

This position is voluntary and unpaid but reasonable travel expenses will be covered.

In line with our equal opportunities policy we welcome the widest possible range of expressions of interest in order to increase the diversity of our Board.

If this is of interest, we’d be very happy to hear from you. In the first instance, please get in touch with our Senior Programmes Manager, Melissa Campbell on [email protected]
