Board of Trustees Member at Just a Drop

Just a Drop is an international water, sanitation and hygiene charity established in 1998 and since then we’ve reached over 1.9 million people and worked in over 30 countries. We have an excellent reputation for delivering project work of the highest quality and bringing our supporters closer to the projects they support.

This is a good time in Just a Drop’s development; in the last few years we have seen a real growth in the programmes we are able to deliver and the number of people we can benefit. Our programmes team is supported by a team of highly qualified civil engineers and hydrogeologists who volunteer their time and expertise.

 

A key aspect of this development is to strengthen our capacity at board level and we are therefore looking for trustees who can help us achieve this. Specifically, we need people with a background in international development to help provide the following:

  • Strategic advice
  • Support and guidance to our experienced projects team
  • To be the lead trustee in terms of international development

In order to provide this, a candidate would ideally have:

  • A wide knowledge of water, sanitation and hygiene issues
  • Experience of collaboration with development partners
  • Project management experience

An understanding of the best ways to achieve sustainability of our interventions and through our actions

In line with the Charity Commission Guidance for Trustees, our Trustees are expected to carry out the following duties honestly and reasonably:

  • Ensure the charity is carrying out its purposes for the public benefit
  • Comply with our governing document and law
  • Act in the charity’s best interests
  • Manage the charity’s resources responsibly
  • Act with reasonable care and skill
  • Ensure the charity is accountable

Trustees meet typically four times a year at our offices in Richmond, London (meetings are hybrid, but in-person participation at meetings is preferred). The projects team are based in Motcombe, Dorset.

This position is voluntary and unpaid but reasonable travel expenses will be covered.
