Communications at Just a Drop – Temporary Cover

Just a Drop brings sustainable safe water, sanitation and hygiene projects to communities, transforming lives.  Safe water changes everything. It improves health, education, women’s rights, and leads to secure food sources, economic growth and brighter futures.

We work with communities to implement solutions which best suit their needs, such as rainwater harvesting systems, wells, sand dams, biosand filters, latrines, and sanitation and hygiene training. We’ve recently developed food security, menstrual health and micro-finance programmes, which further support community development and economic growth.

Just a Drop will be recruiting for a permanent Communications Manager, who will start around September 2019.

This means that we have an opportunity for the right person to provide some temporary communications cover in the interim, between mid-June and mid-September, approximately 3 months.

In this time, it is anticipated that the temporary role will cover the following:

  • Creating social media posts, across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn

  • Collating, writing, producing and distributing our newsletter (w/c 22 July)

  • Updating our website, mainly with a monthly news item, which needs to be written

  • Liaising with the projects team on Just a Drop’s Highlights (w/c 19 August)

  • Some communications support for and liaison with Just a Drop’s partners, for example, editing media releases, blogs, as and when required

  • Communications for our events function, particularly around Just a Drop’s presence at World Travel Market, which happens in November 2019

  • Other communications tasks which may be necessary

To fulfil this, we are looking for someone who has the necessary experience to work on the above. It may suit a freelancer willing to provide additional support, or someone with communications background looking to get some charitable experience. We have a small budget to cover this temporary position.

When volunteering at Just a Drop, we find that it’s very helpful to get a sense of how much time you'll have available and then to mutually agree the commitment. It would therefore be very helpful if you could let us know how many hours you can offer each week, over how many days, and for how long.

If you are interested in this temporary position, please get in touch with Brendan Hanlon, Head of Fundraising and Communications at [email protected] Please copy any email to [email protected] or call Brendan on 020 8910 7752.

We look forward to hearing from you.
