We all know Christmas is going to be a little different this year. While the Coronavirus means Christmas plans and get-togethers certainly won’t be the same, there’s no reason to let tiers and restrictions dampen our Christmas spirit. With this in mind, we have organised a large dose of Christmas cheer with a virtual Christmas Concert to support their life-saving work across the globe.

Our Virtual Christmas Concert will be hosted by our Patron, Alastair Stewart OBE, and will feature a number of renowned choirs and acts such as the Treorchy Male Voice Choir, Vocal Dimensions, Wimbledon Choral Society, Wiltshire Wailers and Offbeat Choir. They will perform alongside students from Pembrey Primary School in South Wales and the Coop Academy in Failsworth, as well as choirs from the communities around the world that have benefited from Just a Drop’s work.

As an added treat, renowned author, translator, journalist and Hispanist Adam Feinstein will join Nicaragua’s Ambassador to the UK, HE Guisell Morales-Echaverry, to showcase the stunning poetry from this South American country. Adam has recently published the first book of rhyming translations of poet Ruben Dario’s work and is also Pablo Neruda’s biographer so brings a wealth of knowledge to what promises to be a concert highlight.

Concert-goers will be treated to a true celebration of art, music and poetry from all corners of the globe without ever leaving their sofas. Once you book your tickets, Just a Drop will even send you a song sheet so you can sing along with your family from the comfort of your own home.To get involved all you need to do is buy a ticket below! Over the course of the Coronavirus Pandemic, Just a Drop has worked extremely hard to work with communities across the world and protect them from the virus. We have been teaching the importance of proper handwashing for over 20 years, embedding this and good hygiene behaviours into the day to day lives of communities across the world - creating a culture of positive hygiene.

We have put our experience into action as a response to the global pandemic. In Uganda, our programme has included installing handwashing stations in health centres and ramping up soap making workshops, with soap making materials and training provided by Just a Drop. This means that health centres now have sufficient soap and water throughout ensuring that everyone, doctors and patients alike can wash their hands regularly. The excess soap is sold by the health centres and the income is used to buy more soap making materials, a sustainable income generating exercise ensuring that there is also affordable soap available in the community for handwashing.

We have also provided soap to local markets to enable them to stay open as community members are now able to wash their hands with soap at the handwashing stations installed by Just a Drop and having purchased motorbikes our local teams have been able to visit villages, towns and market places in order to raise more awareness and understanding of the dangers of Covid-19.

The proceeds from the ticket sold for the concert will enable Just a Drop to reach more communities with our transformational work – ensuring that they have access to handwashing facilities and clean water that can mitigate the spread of the virus.

Please feel free to invite your colleagues to attend the concert - as it is going to be available from December 17th until the New Year, you might want to run a virtual screening with your team!

You could even buy a ticket for a 'Secret Santa' present!

Or create a fundraising event where you take part in our Christmas Quiz, sing along with us at the concert - all whilst wearing your Christmas Jumpers on zoom across your meetings that day!
