Chile, Tortel (2007)

Just a Drop will fund a water project in Tortel, Chile Tortel is a community of 500 that lies at the head of a long fjord. The problem for villagers is that the community discharges its sewage directly into the edge of the water. Besides being odious and unsightly this is a considerable health hazard, particularly to children who play at the water's edge.

Just a Drop have agreed to support a project to service the 30 houses in the area that desperately need sanitation. A piping system will be put in place, leading to a treatment tank, which would breakdown the sewage to produce harmless liquid.

Funded by Just a Drop's Golf Day. Just a Drop and Scientific Exploration Society will work in partnership to provide:

Installation of a sewage system for the Tortel village that currently discharges into a local inlet with disastrous consequences to the health of the population.

An additional project of providing piping into homes will also be considered after November 2006
