COMING UP, GOING DOWN! JUST A DROP GETS INTO THE BIG TIME!!

Just a Drop, the international water-aid charity for the travel industry has landed a groundbreaking promotion … with the Sun newspaper, reaching an  audience of millions.

The Sun Big Charity Holiday Auction, starting on 21 November, will be trailed in the newspaper and played online over four weeks until 9th December.

“This is the biggest ever holiday charity auction of its kind”, said Fiona Jeffery, founder and chairman of Just a Drop. “It will be groundbreaking and promoted not only in The Sun, but in the Sun Online.”

A number of operators have donated holiday prizes ranging from short breaks in Disneyland Paris, Innsbruck and Las Vegas, to holidays in Austria, Brazil and Turkey. They aim to have 31 holidays for which readers can bid, a new prize each day, with each prize available to bid on over a 3 day period.

Readers are asked to participate in a reverse auction competition where the lowest unique bid wins.

“The Sun has an average of eight millions readers each day and nearly nine million readers have taken a holiday in the past 12 months”, said Jeffery.

“This is a business opportunity in the UK for travel companies like no other.

“Definitely not to be missed, particularly if a company is keen to raise their national profile and get guaranteed coverage in a mass circulation newspaper.”

Jeffery said that the auction is not only exciting and different but would significantly raise the charity’s profile in the UK’s largest selling daily newspaper.

“This promotion will take Just a Drop into a completely new stratosphere!” she added.

“We are a small charity with only two full time staff and a band of willing volunteers without whom we would never be able to continue our work across the world.”

The auction is organised in conjunction with Bidclever, an experienced and well respected reverse auction provider operating in 40 countries.

The charity builds wells, piping and provides sanitation and health education programmes for communities worldwide. Their aim is to help stop the appalling  infant mortality rate which means that a child dies from dirty water every 20 seconds.

Currently over 1.4 million children die through water-related diseases each year. That’s 20 children dying every second!

As one of the pioneers of lowest unique bid, Bidclever is played by users in over 40 countries and since its launch has given away over £600,000 worth of prizes.
