Now that the essential relief supplies and equipment are finally getting through to Haiti, the desperate situation will slowly but surely improve. Water-aid charity, Just a Drop, has launched an appeal for funds to help communities in Haiti rebuild their lives and assist the country in getting back on its feet. To support the fundraising activities Co-operative Travel is offering those who donate to the JUST HELP HAITI appeal the chance to win a fantastic holiday for two to Cancun.
As with the 2004 Tsunami, Just a Drop’s aim is to encourage displaced communities back to their villages and homes. As soon as the emergency relief phase is over Just a Drop will fly in their engineers to meet with the local agencies, identify projects and then work with teams to help rebuild the water and sanitation infrastructure.“As clearly seen from the images of the earthquake’s aftermath this is not a quick fix solution,” said Fiona Jeffery, chairman of Just a Drop. “The country’s recovery process relies on providing sustainable water supplies. Access to clean, safe water is essential and it is the vital catalyst for communities to rebuild their lives through agriculture, employment and education.”
Just a Drop continues to receive generous support for its JUST HELP HAITI Appeal from both individuals and companies, through both much needed cash donations, or ‘gifts in kind’ that can help to raise funds.
