On 28th October Travel 2 transformed their Glasgow office into a Barbie and Ken extravaganza in order to raise money for Just a Drop.  The office embraced the day by dressing up as their favourite Barbie or Ken character, and competing in ‘Barbie v Ken’ challenges throughout the day!

Each team planned different events throughout the office including several stalls, raffles and then a drinks night sponsored by Palace Resorts and Anantara.

Some decided to show off their cooking skills and create a variety of food from hearty breakfasts to delicious cupcakes, while others offered prizes from stalls such as tombola and ‘Name the Barbie’.  However the grand prizes had to be a pair of return flights with Virgin Atlantic which were won during a raffle at the end of the event, and also a draw during the drinks night for 7 nights stays in both Cancun and Thailand!

Overall, Travel 2 raised over £1,400 for Just a Drop, ensuring the event was not only fun, but helped to make a difference to the lives of children throughout the world.

Sam McConnell and Mark Hakansson  canoed from just south of Kendal to London raising £4000.00 to help the water-aid charity put clean water in desperate communities around the world.

The Golf Day!

Undaunted by some inclement weather over 120 travel industry golfers took to the fairways at Dale Hill in East Sussex for the annual Just A Drop Charity Golf Day.

The event sponsored for the 7th consecutive year by Jetset has established itself as the best supported golf day in the UK travel trade.

The less than kind weather however did nothing to dampen the spirits of the golfers who after being entertained by guest speaker Ian Richards generously raised over 11.5k at the annual golf day charity auction.

Thanks to all the golfers, the hole sponsors, Jestet and all of the companies who donated some fantastic prizes for auction.

The 9th annual Just A Drop Charity Golf Day will be returning to Dale Hill on Wednesday 5 September.

Just a Drop Lecture

Photo    Just a Drop’s Lecture ‘Is Water the new Oil?' held at the Royal Geographical Society in April 2009 asked whether water shortage could be the cause of the next major international conflict.

With around 1.8 billion people estimated to be living in water scarcity by 2025, BBC journalist and presenter of BBC current affairs programme HARDtalk, Stephen Sackur posed the question.

Walk4Water

walking child

Just a Drop in association with Here is the City is planning  to organise a charity walk in London's Square Mile.

Walk4Water will be based on walking ‘just’ 4 miles which is the average distance that women in some parts of rural Africa have to walk every day to collect clean, safe water for their families.

Not that we suggest that you need carry a heavy load of water. But a picnic basket could be fun!

We are currently looking for two companies to co-host the event as well as 4 supporting companies that sell walkimg and outdoor products Contact Eddie Ottmann, Fundraising & Corporate Partnerships for more details
