Project Sponsors

By sponsoring one of our projects organisations are able to closely identify with the communities we are supporting. This is a particularly good way to engage staff, raise moral and motivate while also clearly demonstrating ones Corporate Social Responsibility credentials to a wider audience including customers and suppliers.

We will send progress reports and if you wish you can have the project officially titled by your company name. Subject to the project’s size, cost, the level of sponsorship and logistics it may be possible for a representative to visit the community.

Don’t forget that your donation can be offset against company corporation tax.

For details on some projects that currently seek funding contact Fiona Jeffery. In the meantime here are some recent examples.

Reed Exhibitions

Through Reed Exhibitions’ generous support, Just a Drop is providing vital water supplies and sanitation in the District of Chattarpur of central India. The Manpura Village project is being undertaken by local Haritika engineers and will provide over 100 households with a clean water and the community with 80 toilets.

Often called as the heartland of India, this region has always commanded an eminent place in Indian history. The Chattarpur district of Manpur as a whole lies in the upper part of the Bundelkhand plateau but spite of being surrounded by rivers this region faces acute scarcity of water.

The Chattarpur district has also been identified as one of the poorest districts in the country by the Government of India's planning commission. After conducting research on multi layered management of water resources in the Bhadar River Sub-basin severe problems were identified including:

• Low agricultural productivity
• Lack of alternative livelihood options
• Degeneration of natural resource base
• Deteriorating quality of available water and unavailability of safe drinking water
• Open Defecation
• Poverty

With the support of Reed Exhibitions, Just a Drop is proud to be helping making a difference to the Manpura Village community.

Doras Trust

Proper sanitation can be as important as clean water and last summer we were delighted to complete the construction of latrines for the Muhuvi Primary School.

With the support of The Dorus Trust and under the supervision of Richard and Bryony Loader of Ughandi ‘B’ Water Project and Captain Jim Masters of Just a Drop, last summer we completed the construction of latrines at the Muhuvi Primary School in the Singida Region of Tanzania.

Following a series of meetings with the village leaders, community and school committee the decision was reached to build a block of toilets with ten boys’ latrines plus urinals, nine girls’ latrines, two toilets for disabled pupils and a shower room.

The school caters for pupils from the age of seven to thirteen and covers Ughandi ‘B’ and its sub villages and currently has over 700 pupils and eight classrooms.

Having proper sanitation blocks is critical to the health of a school community but furthermore the privacy proper blocks offers also encourages the children (particularly the girls) to attend school in the first place so also plays an important role in supporting their education.

The children were also given vital lessons on the importance of good hygiene.

Hayes & Jarvis

Hayes & Jarvis first partnered with Just a Drop in 2009 and sponsored what is a typical Just a Drop project in a remote part of Bolivia.

This project supported two villages requiring a refurbished water supply. The villagers were badly affected by pollution and flooding so Water Engineers together with Just a Drop’s President, Colonel John Blashford-Snell, set out in July to build four wells in two villages for 90 families, living on the distant shores of Lake Roja Aquado in swamp and jungle in northern Bolivia.

Claire Tobin, Managing Director of TUI travel’s UK Specialist said “having just launched our first programme to Latin America, our interest in the region has been heightened and we chose to support the Bolivian project first because this is a way to offer real benefit to a local community that urgently needs help”.
