Smiley Ugandan childrenHints & Tips for planning a fundraising event:

  • Firstly, make sure you know your water facts! Read through the information on Just a Drop so you understand what we do and how the funds you raise are used. The more you understand the more you can explain when trying to persuade others to give.
  • Decide how you are going to raise funds. Choose one of our ideas or make up your own. The main thing is that whilst you are raising money, it’s fun for you and for everyone taking part!
  • Spread the word so that everyone knows about your event. The more people you tell, the more people will get involved and the more money you will raise! Make posters to promote what you are doing and make sure that you are clear about the venue and the time.
  • Give a Just a Drop sticker to everyone who supports your event. If you would like some stickers, please email Nicola Swann at: nicola.swann@justadrop.orgChildren with jerry cans
  • Keep track of all the money you raise and don’t forget who’s pledged their cash. It’s a good idea to ask one of your teachers to help out on the money side. Once you have gathered together all the funds raised, send them to Just a Drop as soon as you can, so that we can start making a difference right away. The address to send cheques to is: Just a Drop, Gateway House, 28 The Quadrant, Richmond, Surrey, TW9 1DN.
  • Most importantly, remember to enjoy the event and to have fun – if people have a good time, they may run similar events for Just a Drop and that will help to spread the word about what we do!

Ways to Run an Event

Girl with cup of waterRunning an event is a good way to raise money for Just a Drop. Your event could be based on water or the colour blue because both are associated closely with the charity. Alternatively, you could encourage your school to take part in our ‘Go Blue!’ mufti day which takes place every year on 22nd March which is World Water Day.

Whatever you decide to do, we have put together some tips below which will help you to plan your event. You can also contact us with details about your school and how funds will be raised; and we can add you to our website so that everyone can see what a great job you’ve done!
