A question for you gentlemen: would you remove the hairs on your chest using a wax strip? Not an enticing thought, admittedly; but perhaps if it was for charity?
This is exactly what some of our long term supporters at the Zenyogkido Martial Arts Foundation did for us at their ‘Family Fun Day’ on 19th August. The event was organised by James Stradling and took place at the Stirrup Cup public house, Leicester. Amongst the brave (and newly hairless chaps), the day also involved a bbq, a wet t-shirt competition, three-legged races and a convoy of bikers & classic cars. By all accounts, the whole day was tremendous fun – with something for everyone – from throwing water bombs at anything that moved to grooving along to the sounds of the 50s and 60s.
Despite a successful event, James and his team also managed to squeeze in a few extra events the following weekend, bringing the total raised for Just a Drop to over £1,000!
James said, “It’s one thing doing a car boot sale or shaking a collection tin, but entirely another when orchestrating an event for all the family at your local community pub. That said, I hope that next year, it will be even bigger and better. I wish to thank everyone who was involved in ensuring this event was a success, as well as paying tribute to the Just a Drop team and all of the field operatives who make the saving of lives actually happen.”
The Zenyogkido Martial Arts Foundation has been supporting Just a Drop since 2003 and to date have raised approximately £18,000 – enough money for two wells. This is a fantastic achievement and our special thanks go to James for his on-going dedication. Here’s to next year’s event!
