 Tom joined Reed in 1982 and took over the reins of World Travel Market in 1984, during which time the event has grown annually, both in terms of size and structure, to become the major worldwide industry event it is today.
Since 1992, Tom has been responsible for the development of travel events worldwide, resulting in the launch of Arabian Travel Market, C.I.S. Travel Market, International Golf Travel Market, CBITM and City Break.

Reed Travel Exhibitions also handles the management contracts for British Travel Trade Fair, AIME and the ICCA Exhibition.

Reed acquired EIBTM in early 1997 and subsequent acquisitions include Top Resa, La Cumbre and International Luxury Travel Market. The recent launch of Asia Luxury Travel Market and GIBTM (Gulf Incentive, Business Travel and Meetings Exhibition) brings the number of Reed Travel Exhibitions' events to 15.

Tom's role of developing worldwide travel events was recognised by his promotion (February 2003) to Chairman, Reed Travel Exhibitions to reflect the seniority of his role within Reed. His commitment to the travel industry is demonstrated by his involvement in travel related associations worldwide including WTTC, ITTFA, PATA (Chairman, UK Chapter), Guild of Travel & Tourism, Institute of Travel & Tourism, ICCA, SITE, MPI and the CTO.
