Project Details - Philippines, Balatan Island

Balatan Island is a Sito located in Barangay Tilik, Lubang, Occidental Mindoro. It is a ten-minute boat ride from Tilik Port. The residents are marginal fishermen. They get water from Barangay Tilik Proper in plastic containers and transport then to the island in small boats. The process alone consumes around 50 minutes to 1 hour. Construction of a well, elevated tank and distribution lines will ease the resident's burden of fetching water and prevent possible contamination.

A good source of portable water will also address health problems related to water borne diseases. The project will be supervised by The Scientific Exploration Society, Office of the Major of Lubang through the Municipal Engineer's office and Provincial Water and Sanitation Team (PWST).

Just a Drop will fund:

• A water well and elevation tank to provide clean water for the fishermen.
• A water pump to include water quality analysis
• Piping for an effective water supply.
