Many parts of Mongolia are under the threat of drought as annual precipitation becomes less and less, due to climate changes. Intensive desertification is happening in some areas, particularly South Gobi in Mongolia activating extreme sand movement. Dalanzadgad village is covered in 50cm of sand making it extremely arid and difficult to farm. A large-scale project is underway to plant a "Green Zone" of 80 hectares of trees and an accompanying water system, which Just a Drop has been approached to help fund.

Just a Drop and Scientific Exploration Society worked in partnership later in 2006 to provide clean water to the local population of 17,000 inhabitants of Dalanzadgad. The project assisted with the:

  • Installation of a well system to provide clean water.
  • A team from Just a Drop and the Scientific Exploration Society supervised the project work in the field
